I do not know if these windmill battery people realize it but the
Southport nuclear power plant is close to 35 years old now. I would just wonder if they would like to have all the nuclear waste dumped in their back yard and if there was ever a problem at the plant all the windmills and batteries in the world will not help.People use some common sense and drill for oil and as far as green energy its been done for 30 years and nothing has changed so get off it or some foreign country is going to be telling you what to do and then it will not mater anyway will it? I advise to let them drill even in the swamps if they want to. As far as oil or coal they are part of the earth so use the resources Their pollution is nothing compared to nuclear waste.

What is Domestic Oil? Is it the American oil that the American oil companies refine for Americas internal use or is it American oil that is pumped into tankers and shipped to China by our greedy American oil companies?

I attended the public meeting on April 26 in Wilmington by the BOEM regarding proposed seismic exploration off our coast. I was dismayed at the lack of understanding portrayed by members of the public. While most spoke up against the exploration, they also commented on the need for alternative energy (see online Star News photos -Public hearing on seismic exploration for oil and gas). These photos show the public displaying windmills for alternative energy. What none of these people seemed to realize is that to build offshore windmills (which I support), a clear understanding of geologic strata is needed to find areas for placement of wind farms.
The studies would provide understanding of sand deposits that could possibly be used for beach renourishment. The attending public seemed to not hear this.
And yes, the studies would be used to define potential areas of deposits of oil and gas. We must do something to support our 20 million barrel a day addiction that we have in the US. I refuse to be a NIMBY when I use oil products produced elsewhere. I use pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, textiles, detergents, and asphalt that oil provides! And I burn gas in my vehicle. I noted that at the meeting, the bike rack outside was almost empty and the parking lot was full of hydrocarbon burning vehicles.
A representative of BOEM that I spoke with after the evening meeting said that this was the most negative meeting held on the east coast. Shame on us for being such NIMBYs!

I voted no for more reasons than was listed. I voted no also because of the environmental impacts it will have on our marine life with the seismic testing. Also, which is needed more? Clean energy that can power all of nc or dirty fuel which has begun to corrupt our world. We need to look for alternative fuel sources and get out of the "dark ages" of coal, natural gas, and ultimately oil.

you must have went to community college.Ride your bike by the nuclear power plant that has been giving you all that electricity that you enjoy so much when you turn a light on ,take a hot bath ,turn that AC lower on hot days. You need to know that Oil ,gas ,and coal are much safer than a nuclear meltdown. Please someone help me get these green people to wake up.

Unlock you arms and back away from the tree, sir!!! You have bark-prints on your face and forearms! The owls are ok!
Now there's a novel brain flatulation! "Walking and riding bicycles" is going to change America dependence on oil? Maybe find a tree with a large cavity you can crawl into, rather than just hug. You don't have much of a concept of the big picture, huh? Geeeez!!!

America needs it's own oil supply.
to the person who said we should all start walking and riding bikes ROFL.
I think we did that back in the wild west days! taking care and feeding a horse would cost as much as gas so no thanks---You walk and ride your bike. I like to travel hundreds of miles a day in my comfortable automobile rather then spend days walking that same distance.
Think I'll go fill up now for the weekend~!

That's all well and good, but what about the elderly folks who can't? And too, have you riden a bike from Carolina Beach to work in Castle Hayne? Better get up mighty early in the morning and eat your Wheaties!

What?
Drill away? Are you kidding me? We should all be trying to find ways to use LESS oil, like walking, riding a bike, etc.
