...was well respected and held close as an individual right. Nowadays people intentionally post stupid, idiotic and non-sensical information about themselves on the worldwide web for everybody including God himself to view.
If a person wants to voluntarily and willingly relinquish his/her right to privacy and be stupid enough to post their personal information for all to see, then let them suffer the consequences!
Facebook and its users has been the tool for the countless loss of jobs, loss of marriages, friends and lifetime relationships. Yet people continue to embrace Facebook like a junkie embraces their next high. I've never understood the lure, the desire or whatever it is that captivates the users.
My "Friends" get personal visits, phone calls, emails and cards! FACEBOOK AND ITS BILLIONS OF USERS DO NOT KNOW ME...AND NEVER WILL!
Who's to say what is "Questionable"?????
This is the same as colleges sending out private investigators to follow students and report their activities. It should be challenged in court.
Thanks for tonight's laugh!!
If you're doing something you don't want the whole world to be able to find out about, here's a suggerstion: Don't post it on the computer where anybody in the world can see it.
There's no expectation of privacy on facebook, unless you have your privacy settings set so that nobody but your friends can see what's posted there.
Being stupid enough to do that shows employers, and anyone else that might look at your page, that at the least, you show poor judgement. Which is not a desirable trait for an employee.
I don't think it is any of the colleges' business checking up on their students private affairs. What will they do next.... check their Twitter accounts?
Pretty simple there Cowbaby! As an employer, I will search every avenue of the web available to find out the information about a potential employee! I can honestly say I have weeded out many, many great candidates and refused them employment based soley on their publicly available information. Thank you Facebook!!! Thank you candidates for allowing me to see who and what you really are! YOUR business is now MY business!
If you want to post personal information about yourself, I can read it free of charge! Guess what else Cowbaby? Twitter IS next!!! It's really very simple, if you don't want people to know about you, don't put it up for the whole freekin' world to see! Did you not learn the true meaning of the word "privacy" and how to protect it by the time you were a freshman in high school? Seriously...you DON'T need to answer that!
Twitter...good idea, thanks! I'm going to recommend that we start checking Twitter accounts for potential students too. Thanks for the suggestion!
