This is the way i see it it is there choice to be gay not yours did or did not the bible say donot judge others unless you judge your self JESUS SAID HE WHO IS WITH OUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE WELL I DON,T SEE ANY STONES FLYING LEAVE THEM ALONE IT IS THERE CHOICE .
NC has taken a stand against perversion. Cooper needs to man up and do his job and fight for our values and not el-Obamad's values.
It's funny that an individual with the username of "erlkoenig"--presumably referencing the Goethe poem about a predator attempting to seduce a young boy-- would throw around the term "perverse" like that.
The government's place is not to legislate values, but rather to protect civil liberties.
"Erlkönig is a name from German folklore for the figure of a spirit or "king of the fairies". "
The joke writes itself. Thanks, Oh Great King.
Why am I not surprised at this poll. Typical republicans. They shout "less government" from the top of the mountain but don't follow through unless it suits their ideas of what's right and wrong. There is absolutely NO non-religious based reason to not allow gay marriage. NONE. And religion has ZERO place in the law. If you want to live in a theocracy I here Iran is very nice this time of year. Furthermore you are depriving the state of the massive amount of money it could be making off of additional weddings. My partner and I have already saved a substantial amount of money to spend on our eventual wedding which will happen in NC sooner or later. Money that will go to local businesses and into the economy. I guess republicans aren't proponents of money flowing into the economy? Have to say I was never so embarrassed to be from NC as when that marriage ban was put in place. Oh well...the tide is turning and I will certainly be married in the next few years.
Funny how in a country that was created so "all men are equal" and separation of church and state, you religious nuttos insist on sticking your nose in disregarding those two items, especially over something that doesn't have any effect on you. What people do in the privacy of their own home should be their own business. Find something better to do with your lives than spew hatred you were brainwashed into believing from a book.
In the near future, I think that marijuana will be legal and gay marriage won't raise an eyebrow. Our children will look back at this time and wonder what all the fuss was about. They are more forgiving than we are. Let it go, people. This is not a battle we need to waste another second on. In a pluralistic society such as ours, marriage is a right that flows not only from the church but also from government. It is a right that cannot be denied based on religious grounds. I would ask all Christians to set aside the issue of gay marriage, until all the homeless have shelter, all the hungery are fed, and all the heartbroken are comforted.
If the Gay Community had wanted to have the law changed then they should have gotten out and voted! Since they didn't then they need to just SHUT UP!!!! You want to cry about the over whelming vote against gay marriage too bad so sad!
Marriage is an institution ordained by God between one man and one woman. No court or opinion of man can change that fact. God will be the judge of all in the end.
The last time I checked, God didn't pay any taxes, so God can keep his or her voice out of the lives of the people who do. It is funny. All the people spewing Bible verses want to right to say what they want and don't think it is intrusive, but when a homosexual person says they love someone that person is pushing an agenda or putting it in your face. Seems like you want it both ways. Let me talk, but silence anyone who doesn't agree. The reason the courts are involved is because the majority should not be dictating the rights of a minority otherwise blacks wouldn't have rights and women would have even less than they do now. Thank God, ( <-- sarcasm) the courts are involved to put the bigots in their place.
God, Santa Claus and the Boogeyman walk into a make believe bar. Please, enough with this "God created marriage" nonsense. People created marriage and people created the bible. People evolve and should now understand that there is no "Man in the Sky" throwing lightning bolts at gay people.
Romans 1 26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
You are right. The bible (which I firmly believe to be fiction) says that. What you are wrong about is it's place in society. You want to believe it and live by it then fine. Why should I have to? Why should the state I live in be governed by something I don't believe in? There is absolutely no reason
It seemed to me that the citizen's of NC spoke on this issue with a vote and now a minority of people wants to overturn this vote. What is the world coming to when we no longer have a voice!
"citizen's of NC spoke on this issue with a vote" That's rich. The vote was rushed through and put on a primary ballot. They didn't even have the courage to put it to a vote in the general election, because they knew that the larger the voting bloc, the LESS chance it had to pass. This was always going to be struck down, good on the Attorney General for stopping defending an Unconstitutional amendment, and not wasting more taxpayer dollars on something which has zero chance of being upheld.
A minority group's civil rights cannot be put up for a popular vote. You still have a voice. But stuff like this isn't supposed to be put up for a popular vote.
Marriage is an institution created by God between one man & one woman. Man does not have the right or authority to change what God has created.
Nope. Civil marriage predates religious marriage. And many couples don't get married in a church/by a religious figure.
No, the bible said nothing if this until the English revisions and that is so.
