There is no such thing as "black and white." There's always a "gray" area when people have a valid reason for doing some things. That should be taken into account as well as intent.

And that's what ZERO tolerance means...ZERO. This tolerance level was instituted for a reason, to keep firearms off of school campuses. I don't care if you're skeet shooting, going to the pistol range, bird hunting or just leaving the local turkey shoot, be a responsible gun owner and take your Firearm home, NOT to school.
Just WHAT is so difficult about that to understand?

If it is not zero tolerance the school systems would then be open to interpretation and loop holes. It should stay "you bring a firearm onto school property and you are charged, period!!!!!" Why wouldn't people want zero tolerance given what has occued at schools in the last several years? Why I am on a soap box what I do not agree with is the fighting policy. For example, if a kid is being bullied and he/she has taken the correct steps and let the school know and nothing happens he can get suspended or expelled for defending himself/herself. Now that is wrong!

You list don't know/ don't care.. . and people actually click on that. Who would not know or care about kids bringing guns to school? Our society absolutely sucks.

I understand the severity of having a gun on campus but come on. Where do we live again? Our community holds a mass amount of hunters. It's one thing when it is brought into the school and loaded than in the truck and you're, from what I understand, leaving the campus. I know there's always the "What If' factor, but there's one with everything we all do. That's just my opinion...

What, in the name of common sense, would be a valid reason for a student to bring a gun of any kind onto campus?? Did you read about all the students killed TODAY by a guy with a gun on a college campus???

If the student was carrying a loaded gun on campus then they should be punished. To have a firearm in a car should not be a crime. Before the government decided to run every facet of our lives this would be a non incident.

But because of the deaths on campuses it IS an incident, many many of them and all of them tragic. No one has a reason to bring a gun to school. We don't live in the old west and the last time I checked, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Wild Bill Hikock don't live here. God man, get some mental help and maybe some education into what's going on in our society today.
