How important a part should environmental regulations be in economic development?

Environmental Regulations & Economic Development

Economic development is a relatively short term benefit, so should never override environmental considerations, which have long-ranging impact on our health & well-being, as well as the economic health of the region. Much of our economy & certainly our quality of life depend on the natural beauty of the Cape Fear Region, so it's madness to threaten it.

Environmental Regulations/Economic Development

Clean air and clean water are the keys to all future development in New Hanover County.

Economic development which allows industries to significantly pollute our air and water resources is short

sighted and non sustainable.

Cement plants which cannot keep thousands of tons of toxic air pollution on plant property and deep

mining of the Castle Hayne aquifer have no place in New Hanover County if as a community we are to reach

our full potential.
