is it possible that this was an accident? The dog did only weight 6 pounds. Is it possible that he could have been playing with dog and something happened. From what I've found no one else was around when it happened... He is vegetarin as well.....come on.

I am sure it was an accident. He accidently took the dog out of his crate. He accidently put his hands around the dogs neck and accidently choked the life out of him. Oh, and he accidently told his exgirlfriend that he strangled the dog. And I am sure that he accidently choked his girlfriend three weeks before that! Yep, sounds like an ACCIDENT to me...He is a non-meat eating killer of defenseless puppies...what a great guy!! I wouldn't let him near my daughter or my pets!

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the Branham family, however I do not sympathize with their cause to harshen the sentence for animal cruelty. As a NC resident and survivor of domestic violence I find it disgusting and demeaning that the Branham family would suggest a harsher punishment for fatal strangulation of their family pet than the punishment for non-fatal strangulation of a human.

This is totally insane. Why would you waste taxpayer's money putting a man in jail for something so simple? The man has a problem but let the laws in place work. People priorities are unreal.

Till he chokes a human to death.....then we will punish him. That's the American way & then suck our fingers & go "gee wonder if he ever had signs of being a murderer?"

Absolutely. A life sentence. Its only a matter of time before he hurts a child, elderly person, or someone else who cant defend themselves. Be proactive. There is no rehabing this type of behavior.

The next step from abusing animals is abusing people. The little dog could not defend itself. Maybe he should try it with a 73 year old male. Shotgun.
End of story.

Looks like he needs a little time to deal with what he has done. He could have some time on the roads picking up, and taking care of the animals that are dead on the sides of the highways. give him
a few weeks of that to do.

He absolutely should , if he took the life of a living mammal and a part of a family . he only one step away from taking a human life , which studies show people like that are most likely to do so
2 sides to every story

To say he even has a problem
To say he even has a problem is unjustified. Remember a legal judgement has not been made.

What is this world coming
What is this world coming to? To even ask if he should serve time. Of course he should. Your animal is an extension of your family!! Shame on him.
