I am white (born in 1940) and I grew up a racist in North Carolina. My high school basketball coach tried to scare us with stories of how we white girls would be replaced by someone of a different color who played better than we did. What! Such a concept. We never integrated. I taught in Alachua, Florida in 1968 where Black students were together in schools and White students together in other schools. If you remember, The Supreme Court decision that separate was not equal had been made in 1954. 14 years later, we were forced to close all schools in Santa Fe county and integrate. If people had not pushed ahead and fought for equal rights, we would still be separated by color in my beloved state. Women would not vote today if we had waited for men to 'give' us the right. Hatred today for things done in the past makes it easier to hate differences today. Why not concentrate our efforts at change and help the 99 percent earn a decent wage? Let's pardon ourselves, all of us, for our past.

They burned buildings and SHOT AT FIREMEN AND POLICE!!! Why in the name of common sense do you think they should be pardoned?? Should we just open the prisons up and pardon all of the felony offenders?? People need to shut up about this matter. It's over and done and those who were guilty went to prison WHERE THEY BELONG! I'm so sick of the self ordained and so called preachers yelling for this and that. Get on board with the 21st century and take responsibility for you, your actions, your future and your behavior.

The Wilmington 10 do not deserve a pardon, and anyone who says they do, either did not live here in the area in 1971 or, are relatives of the individuals involved. I have lived in Wilmington all my life, and my father was a firefighter during that time. Ben Chavis was there, and standing behind my dad when Mike's Grocery was burned. The gunshots from Gregory Congregational would stop for a while, and the firemen tried to get the fires under control. Then, the gunshots would start again, and the firemen had to take cover under the fire trucks. The shots were coming from the church. So, no pardon for any of them!!
You bet the 10 are making plans to go over the NC govts head
