I worked for the US postal service in the 60's here in Wilmington and never could understand why our mail was trucked to Fayetteville, only to be sorted and trucked back to Wilmington. No wonder the USPS is loosing billions of dollars a year. Poor management then and it doesn't appear to have improved to date.
If you want people to let you know how they feel, stop picking such stupid answers for the poll.
Current: Mail a letter to someone across the street, the letter has to travel 100 miles to Fayetteville, be sorted, and travel 100 miles back to Wilmington to be delivered.
Future: Mail a letter to someone across the street; the letter has to travel 200 miles to Charlotte, be sorted, and travel 200 miles back to Wilmington to be delivered.
Charge more for the service, cut delivery days by 16%.
USPS: an agency of the US Federal Government
I wonder if any of the affected employees will be allowed to transfer to the Charlotte hub?
...will add one day. I can live with that.
I hate to see them close that hub and lay off people, who have probably worked there for many years, when I have a mail carrier who is illiterate, and keeps his job despite numerous complaints from area neighbors.
