Port City Java ranks in top 50 franchises

WILMINGTON -- Look out Starbucks, a local coffee franchise is offering some strong competition. Entrepreneur Magazine recently named Port City Java one of its top new franchises. The coffeehouse ranked number 31 on a list of top 50. Port City Java began roasting right here in Wilmington in 1995. Last year sales were up more than 16 percent and it could be because of repeat customers like Denise Snyder. Snyder said, "It's convenient, the coffee's great, the food's great, and it's a great stop off area." Last year, entrepreneur magazine ranked Port City Java number 38. The company was franchised in September of 2003.

PCJ Addict

I drink Port City Java coffee every day! The coffee is definitely the best in town. They roast the beans everyday right here in Wilmington so I know it's fresh. I also love talking to the managers and baristas. They're always so helpful and friendly! Port City Java also recently won the Best Coffeehouse in Wilmington award from Encore Magazine. This is great news for Wilmington!

While I think Port City Java and Starbucks both have good coffee, PCJ's free wireless Internet wins me over every time. You have to pay for Starbucks. I love the growth of coffee shops. As someone who does freelance work, coffee shops are a great place to work, meet clients in a professional atmosphere and work with partners. Much more relaxed than a restaurant, where the wait staff is trying to push you out the door, and with the ability to work online. I'm not alone in this, as every time I've gone into one during the day I've seen people working. They also offer a nice, relaxed atmosphere for first dates.

Coffee joust

Figures some prize like this will come out of Wilmington. A franchise of something that will make you want to go somewhere when there is no where to go, give you a poop stoolin bug attack right in the middle of your business meeting with your boss and will charge you 3 times the money for the pleasure. And oh yeah, nearly forgot, and it will all be highly addictive. Suprised it was only the 31st most popular. What's first, the Creekwood crack dealership?

Coffee makes your breath STINK!!!
