Possible re-districting for some NHC schools

New Hanover County will have a new elementary school starting in the fall of 2009. The new school will be located off Holly Shelter Road. That likely means re-districting for thousands of kids in New Hanover County elementary schools. The re-alignment plan was unveiled earlier this week at the monthly school board meeting, even though it wasn't on the agenda. NHC Asst. Superintendent Dr. Rick Holliday said, "We wanted to go ahead and start now so we would not lose the month of July in getting the word out to the population that this is what we are considering. As you know in re-districting the first effort, the first maps are just a starting point." The re-location of Snipes Elementary to the Johnson Elementary location also affects future re-alignment of students.

just a thought

Why not stop making district changes every other year and focus on creating a year round middle school? They are proven to work and oh never mind, I forgot you can't use logic when dealing with government.

School Redistricting

Is there a way to see the proposed map for this or is it a secret like last year?

Actually there are three different maps and you can look at them at the school district website.
