Powerball hits record number

A quarter-billion dollars - that is how much one lucky person could win in Wednesday night's Powerball jackpot. The jackpot is currently the largest lottery jackpot in the world. Tickets were selling so fast today that the lottery administration raised the jackpot five million dollars. Across the state, Powerball ticket sales were averaging nine hundred dollars per minute. Even those who do not usually buy tickets said it was too appealing not to take a chance. “I never do it, and this time I bought 16 dollars worth. I never play the lottery, but this looks good so I’m going to play,” said Louise Tarlton. Local retailers said lottery sales double once the jackpot goes above two-hundred million dollars. If someone wins tonight, it will be the tenth largest jackpot in Powerball history. We will have the results for you on WWAY at 11:00 p.m.
