And here I thought football

And here I thought football games could be played in the rain

Rained out football

I was amazed when I first heard this too, and figured it was part of the "pansi-fication of America," raising kids to be little woosies. It turns out they have a pretty good reason. If the field is too wet, a game can really tear up the field badly, to the point of making it dangerous after it dries out. (Twisted ankles in ruts, etc.) Unlike a professional team that can absorb the cost of field repair as a business expense, the schools simply don't have the money to repair the fields regularly. (It would take money away from their Little Liberals Indoctrination Classes.)
