Red Cross set up to help flood victims

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The American Red Cross is prepared to help flooding victims. The local chapter and the North Carolina Flood Relief Operations for the Red Cross have teamed up. They're set up in the old Haverty's building on Oleander Drive as long as help is needed.

The main thing the American Red Cross is doing for people now is providing shelter and food.

"We still have portions of the Northeast Cape Fear River who will be over flood stage for a couple more days from what we're gathering, and so we still are looking at Pender County," Red Cross Jobs Director Rick Schou said. "We still have resources in that county ready to mobilize once the folks there understand what their needs are going to be."

If anyone in the affected areas needs help, they can call the Cape Fear Chapter of the Red Cross at (910) 762-2683.
