The Mrs. United States pageant concluded late Thursday night in Las Vegas. Reigning Mrs. North Carolina April Storms-Britt competed in the contest. Out of 54 contestants April was awarded first runner-up. If the winner can't fulfill her duties, April will take over. NewsChannel 3 spoke with April Friday right before she boarded a plane to return home to Bladen County. Storms-Britt said, "It was a wonderful, great experience. Glad it's over, my feet are killing me! Long days, heat unbearable, women were fainting." April will continue her duties as Mrs. North Carolina, promoting her platform of helping those with substance abuse challenges.
