Report says NC liquor stores have problems

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- A state report says North Carolina's system of government-run liquor stores needs to be reorganized so unprofitable stores make money and are in the right locations. The Charlotte Observer reported Friday the review comes from the state Legislature's Program Evaluation Division. The report determined the problems are greatest in rural areas. It also said the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission lacks authority to manage the system's 400 county-run liquor stores. The commission buys liquor, but can't mandate a profit margin or determine the staffing or appearance of a store. Commission director Mike Herring said he agreed with the report's recommendation to give the state more control over the local stores. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

Novel Idea

Hey, I have a novel idea. If rural ABC stores are costing the taxpayer, why not turn the demon alcohol over to the private sector? I bet I could make a dollar running one.

MAYBE

their enforcement guys could DO THEIR JOBS if they weren't tasked with TRASH PATROL...

Yes, they have a big problem

Yes, they have a big problem and that is they don't have a "sobriety @ the door checkpoint law" which would do a whole lot to save lives imho. and would be a whole lot less invasive than the current seat belt laws if you want to really know what I think on the matter,
