Retirees fill time, make money playing fetch

READ MORE: Retirees fill time, make money playing fetch
Playing fetch just got a little sweeter. A group of local retirees have the right idea when it comes to caring for animals; they work for Fetch Pet Care. Owner, Eddy Solis began his professional pet walking and pet sitting company in 2007. "It's a great way for animal lovers to earn that extra income to help them out," said Solis. Solis said his pet care staff has recently changed. Many employees seeking work are retirees looking for a fun way to get a little exercise and supplement their incomes in a tight economy. Robert and Margaret Pratel have been working for Fetch Pet Care since January. "The economy really pushed us over the line,” Robert said. “It's very hard when you are retired and you start losing a lot of your savings over the years." "It's nice to be in a situation with the economy the way it is right now and be able to provide a service that is good for animals. It also gives jobs to people in the community in a time like this too," added Solis. Bert Blake, a retired American Airlines pilot said he could not think of a better way to spend his free time. "I love animals obviously, so I thought that would be something interesting to do." Considering most households have a least one pet, these folks may have found the right niche. In a good month, Fetch Pet Care employees could make up to $300. Fetch Pet Care was featured on Good Morning America as one of five top part-time jobs you can join into today that is defying the economy. If you are interested, you can call 1-866-FETCH-ME.
