You know the holiday season is in full swing when the Salvation Army kicks off their annual Kettle Drive. Today, the Cape Fear Salvation Army hosted their kick off event at the Independence Mall in Wilmington. This year, the Salvation Army will be assisting more than 1600 families throughout our five county region. All monies collected through the Kettle Drive will go toward meals, clothing and toys for children. Salvation Army Commanding Officer, Butch Mallard said, "We rely on the support of the fine people of this community. Every year they come together even when times are tough, because they want to look out for their fellow man and the children. Christmas is all about the children." There are more than 30 donation kettles scattered throughout our area.
