SC-based military contractor plans to shift work to NC plant

READ MORE:
ROXBORO, N.C. -- A South Carolina-based firm that makes armored vehicles for the Marine Corps says an overhaul of its operations will shift some work to a plant in North Carolina. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Wednesday that Force Protection of Ladson, S.C., intends to move the work to Roxboro from a plant in Summerville, S.C. Force Protection said last year it would spend $31 million to convert the empty Roxboro plant and create 270 jobs over three years. The company said accounting problems, shareholder lawsuits and a loss of market share contributed to the delay of plans to move the work to Roxboro. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. Oh no! Another heavy industry trying to locate in NC! These guys weld and use tons of spray paint, contributing heavily to greenhouse gases and global warming. What will we do?
