SC mother says 3-year-old found a gun and shot her in the face

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a Gaffney woman is recovering after her 3-year-old son shot her in the mouth while she was sleeping. The mother told sheriff's deputies the child got the handgun from a dresser drawer. Deputies say 27-year-old Sadie Ann Davidson was treated and released from a hospital after the shooting Sunday. If this lady knew there was a fire arm in the house, why she didn't take precautions and put the gun in a higher place. The golden rule: "NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED" - accidents can happen sometimes they can be fatal whether for the child or the adult.

She was sleeping because she had a loaded gun in the house and wanted to be shot in the face by a baby. What an idiot all around. Kid probably got his butt beat too. So many people should not breed. There should be a law that if people who keep loaded guns around kids under 18 are shot or anyone else is shot THE HOME owner or gun owner should be charged with child endangerment and stupidity.

In North Carolina, anyone leaving a firearm unsecure in a home where a minor resides is both criminally and civilly liable for that child getting his or her hands on that firearm. No one even has to get shot to be criminally charged. A pamphlet containing the law (N.C.G.S. § 14-315.1)is given to every firearm purchaser.
