SE NC gets $22 million from feds for waterway projects

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Southeastern North Carolina is getting more than $22 million from the federal government for beaches and inlets, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Wilmington Port.

The following projects in the total amount of $22,490,000 have been approved by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water for the 2011 US Army Corps of Engineers budget:

$350,000 for Brunswick County Beaches
$750,000 for Carolina Beach Inlet
$300,000 for Surf City/Topsail Beach
$4,750,000 for the Intracoastal Waterway
$12,247,000 for the Wilmington Harbor Maintenance Dredging
$1,800,000 for Wilmington Harbor dredging and improvements
$2,243,000 for Cape Fear River Locks and Dams
$50,000 for Masonboro Inlet.
