Pleasure Island lived up to its name this weekend with of good music, good food, and good times. The Sixteenth Annual Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival was held at the Fort Fisher Recreation Area. Music lovers young and old could find more than fifteen bands on two stages at this year's event. Although the crowd got drenched for a brief period Saturday afternoon, most of the acts went on as scheduled. Event organizers were pleased with this year's turnout. “We're happy to have everybody here. Its actually one of the most gorgeous days you can find on Pleasure Island,” said Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bruce Holsten. “But more importantly, we've got a great crowd, an unbelievable lineup, the best food in southeast North Carolina, and some of the best music over the next two days.” Organizers said the festival has grown by leaps and bounds over the last sixteen years and remains Pleasure Island’s biggest event.

Seafood Jazz Festival at Kure

Way too expensive. We took out of town guests with us to the festival and were shocked at the price per person, especially since we did not plan to stay all day or take in the evening entertainment. Won't go back in the future, for sure.

Susan? Debbie? Is that you?

Man-oh-man! How long has it been? I haven't seen you two since Woodstock....and I see you're still dancing exactly the same!

$30 I dont think so

at $30/person I'd love to know how many ppl actually went....

seafood ,blues and jazz festival

Expensive? 16 bands across two days. Comes out to be a bit less than $2 a band . Why would anyone go that wasnt interested in the music?? Luckily there were a lot of people that did go for the music and packed the place . I went with friends from out of town and they already made resrvations at the Marriot for next year. I guess some follks just dont get it.

seafood, blues & jazz

Too expensive for my purse.

reSeafood, Blues, and Jazz enjoyed at Pleasure Island

I might had went, but I HATE blues and jazz. I love seafood. If they had shagging music at least thats more of Carolina music.
