NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)- Dr. Tim Markley introduced himself to the New Hanover County community Thursday night. Before becoming the Superintendent in Catawba County, Markley was the Superintendent of the White Mountain School District in New Hampshire. Prior to that he was the principal of Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville. Markley went to college at UNC Pembroke, received his Master's degree from Fayetteville State, and earned his Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
"I firmly believe that schools do a great job and I think more people need to see that," said Markley. "So if we can build partnerships with these folks, we can really work to improve the schools."

Since we have reduced the size of the teaching staff, the support staff and other school items, why not reduce the size of the administrative heads in this time of reduction and cost savings. They could split the duties for awhile and probably save over one quarter of a million dollars a year.
