video Folks down in Southport are not too happy about the city's annexation plans. A public hearing was held Tuesday night to discuss the plans. The Southport Aldermen voted in March to begin the process of annexing more than 400 acres surrounding the city.

BREAKING FIRST ON 3: School bus accident sends two to hospital

A New Hanover County school bus was involved in a wreck this afternoon on Carolina Beach Road near Monkey Junction. We're told about five students were on the bus at the time. One was sent to the hospital. The driver of the car involved went as well. No word on their injuries or who was at fault.

Man police say hit and killed two bicyclists now charged with second degree murder

A New Hanover County Grand Jury indicted Thomas Howard Grooms, Jr. of two counts of Second Degree Murder in the April 3, 2011 deaths of Ronald David Doolittle II and Ronald David Doolittle III.

video Tabor City Police say they found a man lying in the middle of the road early Friday morning. That man was Stacey Scott. Scott says former Sen. R.C. Soles attacked him with a metal pipe, held a gun to his head, and threatened to kill him if he told anyone about what happened. This did not keep Scott from telling his side of the story.

FIRST ON 3: CFPUA deals with 22,400 gallon sewage spill over the weekend

The CFPUA Operations Department has repaired and mitigated a sewer spill which occurred on April 23, 2011. The incident was reported at 5:45 p.m. and the spill was stopped at 6:20 p.m. (approximately 40 minutes, observed). The spill was from a manhole located at the end of Myrtle Ave. along Bradley Creek. The spill was caused by a failure of the bypass pumping system being used to bypass pump station 35 at Bradley Creek during upgrade and rehabilitation work at the pump station.
