Black man claims police beat him after hostage situation at Cary bank

Officials in Cary have asked the Wake County District Attorney's office and the State Bureau of Investigation to look into a complaint that one of the hostages in a bank standoff was beaten, cursed and handcuffed by police as he emerged from the building after the siege ended.

Adopt-An-Angel, a local animal welfare organization, is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who killed two puppies in the Long Leaf Park area. This case remains under active investigation by the Wilmington Police Department.

Goolsby wants US 17 renamed to honor Marines at cost of $100k

Sen. Thom Goolsby has sponsored a bill in the state legislature to designate US 17 as US Marine Corps Highway. The bill calls for $100,000 of Department of Transportation funds be allocated to pay for signage for the road.

Teen charged with murder after Bladen girl stabbed
