New ABC Family movie begins production in Wilmington

ONLY ON 3: You voted for a bond to build a pool; City Council decides to use the money for cross-city trail

video Back in 2006, Wilmington voters went to the polls and approved a $35.5 million recreation bond, $700,000 of which was designed to go towards building a natatorium. But, because of the broad language in the bond order, Wilmington City Council, led by Mayor Bill Saffo, voted Tuesday night to spend the $700,000 now on finishing the cross-city trail, even though voters approved it for a pool.

ONLY ON 3: Wilmington City Attorney "too tired" to answer tough questions after council meeting

When we took the mayor the bond language and asked him to show it to us, he told us the only person that could answer that question was City Attorney Carolyn Johnson. So, we went to Johnson to ask her, but she rudely responded that she was "too tired" to answer our question.

Wilmington City Council looks to change park bond money

Wilmington City Council has justified spending money on parks and other projects with the 2006 voter-approved Parks and Rec Bond. At its meeting tonight, though, the council wants to change how $700,000 of that bond money will be spent.
