Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Operations crews responded to and resolved a sewer system overflow (SSO) of approximately 2625 gallons that occurred on Saturday afternoon, March 6 at a manhole located on the Ogden Interceptor sewer main at the end of Robin Dale Court in Wilmington. The first notification received of this SSO was at 1:45 PM; responding crews stopped the overflow at 2:20 PM. The spill entered the wetlands of Smith Creek.

The same line overflowed back on March 1. http://www.wwaytv3.com/sewage_spill_wilmington/03/2010

The overflow was caused when a downstream bypass pump became overwhelmed with increased flow from dewatering occurring at an upstream pump. This increased flow subsequently overflowed an adjacent manhole. Enhanced pump synchronization was performed to resolve. These pumps were being used to bypass waste water and groundwater around sections of the Ogden Interceptor during repairs.

CFPUA Environment and Safety Management is performing water quality monitoring to determine the impact of the spill. Monitoring will continue throughout the response and repair. NC DWQ has been notified of the spill and the response.

When is this going to end?

I live on Robin Dale Court and have experienced dirt or a dirt like substance in my water since this project began. When is this going to stop. Does this not make the 4th problem/spill they have had since the beginning? What are they doing to notify the neighborhood about these spills - NOTHING!!!!
