CAROLINA BEACH -- If you're looking for a summer thrill, a new park just opened in Carolina Beach. Now skateboarders can get off the streets and into an eight thousand square foot skate park, complete with ramps, rails, and bowls. Admission is free. It's open seven days a week for skateboarders and in-line skaters. The project has been in the works for nearly five years. Skaters say it was worth the wait. Local skater Evan Pye said, "I can walk here whenever I want. I can skate here whenever I want. It doesn't cost anything. It's just a dream come true, skate whenever I want." The skate park is unsupervised; you skate at your own risk. Just remember to wear your helmet, knee and elbow pads.
