Slain Marine mourned as search deepens

VANDALIA, Ohio (AP) -- Hundreds of people attended a prayer service in Ohio last night for Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach, the pregnant Marine killed near Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, last month. The search continues for a fellow Marine suspected in her death, Corporal Cesar Laurean. People in her hometown of Vandalia, Ohio, remembered Lauterbach for her strength, vitality, and service. Authorities have offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to Laurean's arrest. They plan to post billboards of his picture nationwide. Onslow County, North Carolina, Sheriff Ed Brown says the search will continue until Laurean is found. Lauterbach disappeared sometime after December 14th. Authorities recovered what they think is her burned body from a fire pit behind Lauren's home in Jacksonville, North Carolina. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
