Soldier from Chapel Hill dies in Iraq

FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) -- A family in Chapel Hill is mourning the loss of a 30-year-old soldier who died in Iraq last week.

The Department of Defense says Sergeant Lee "Christian" Wilson died Thursday in Mosul when a bomb went off near his vehicle. He was among three killed in the incident.

Wilson was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Wilson's father says his son had been looking forward to a two-week beach trip after returning to the U.S. in December.

Wilson was in the middle of his fourth deployment. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
