According to Newsweek magazine, a couple of local high schools are among the nation's best. South Brunswick High School in Southport and New Hanover High School in Wilmington both made Newsweek's list of America's top public high schools. South Brunswick was ranked 896, and New Hanover 973. There were 54 North Carolina schools placed in the top 1,500. High schools in Dallas earned the top two spots. The rankings are based on the number of advanced placement tests taken, divided by the number of graduating seniors. Congratulations to the students, faculty and staff at South Brunswick and New Hanover! *You may notice an error on the Newsweek website. The list shows South Brunswick High School as being in Southport, NJ. This appears to be a typo. While there is a South Brunswick High School in New Jersey, it is not in Southport. South Brunswick High in North Carolina is indeed on Newsweek's list of top schools in the nation.
