Trask & West Bladen await playoff fate

videoBoth West Bladen High and Trask High will likely be booted out of the football state playoff picture by the end of the week. Both teams likely see the handwriting on the wall due to a fight that occurred at Trask last Friday.

WWAY's Chasity Melvin enters "Wolfpack Hall"

videoIt's now official. WWAY Full Court Press analyst Chasity Melvin is a member of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame. Melvin was inducted over the weekend in Raleigh. Of course, we had to make the trip in order check out some of the excitement.

McKever among Wolfpack players suspended for upcoming football game

videoNC State head coach Dave Doeren has announced that a number of student-athletes will be suspended from Saturday's upcoming football showdown against Louisville, following a game with BB guns at their off-campus residence last week. Former South Columbus football standout Pharoah McKever is one of the NC State players that won't be making the road trip this weekend.

WWAY's 5th Quarter - October 10

videoWeek 8 of the high school football season is complete. As usual we had loads of coverage on the 5th Quarter with host John Rendleman and analyst Trot Nixon. Unfortunately one area game featured a brawl that resulted in seven player ejections. The list of playoff teams from our area just got reduced due to sanctions that will result from the multiple ejections.

Stilman White says viral Mormon missionary hoops vid not him

videoWhile Stilman White served his mission out west, a YouTube basketball video went viral. The video included two Mormon missionaries playing basketball on a playground, with one of the young men clearly impressing his opponents with his hoop skills. It led a lot of people to wonder if that player was White, so we asked him.

Church mission over, Wilmington's White back on court at UNC

videoStilman White started two games for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the NCAA Basketball Tournament in 2012. He hasn't played in a college game since. That's about to change soon though. His Mormon mission is now over. We made the trip to Chapel Hill on Wednesday to sit down with the Tar Heel basketball guard to talk about hoops, his mission trip and a jersey change that involves Michael Jordan.

Seahawk men's soccer team wins again; Basketball media day for UNCW women

videoUNCW was the place to be on Wednesday for Seahawk sports. The nationally ranked men's soccer team won once again. The women's basketball team at UNCW held their annual media day. We were there for both.

Team of the Week - Hoggard Vikings

videoWith a 6-0 record Hoggard is on a roll in high school football. The Vikings defeated New Hanover last Friday; therefore, we stayed in town in order to present the Vikings with our team of the week award.
