The 2014 high school football regular season concluded on Friday night. Whiteville captured the regular season crown in the Three Rivers Conference. We had highlights from the Wolfpack's win over South Columbus along with coverage from two key matchups in the Four County Conference: Wallace Rose Hill vs. Clinton and East Bladen vs. West Bladen. Laney and New Hanover both won state soccer playoff games on Wednesday night. The two Wilmington schools will now face each other on Saturday. This guarantees a Mideastern Conference team will earn a spot in the eastern finals next week. Full story...

The South Columbus football team lost their first four games of the 2014 regular season. The Stallions have been able to make a tremendous turnaround after making a few adaptations to their offense. As a result they've won five of their last six games. We made a trip to Stallion territory to honor South Columbus with the WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance Mayfaire Team of the Week award. Full story...

Laney, New Hanover and Whiteville all won second round state playoff soccer games on Monday night. All three schools will hit the soccer pitch again on Wednesday for third round state playoff action. On our sports on Monday we had game coverage from the Laney-Hoggard playoff tilt and the New Hanover-Cape Fear playoff affair. Full story...

The NC State-Syracuse affair was a game of firsts for head football coach Dave Doeren and redshirt freshman Pharoah McKever. Doeren earned his first ACC victory as the Wolfpack head coach. McKever, a graduate of South Columbus High, returned an interception for a touchdown. It was McKever's first collegiate interception and his first Wolfpack touchdown as well. Full story...

We decided to be creative on Friday's 5th Quarter on WWAY. In fact Ron Burgundy made a special appearance, flying in all the way from San Diego. It's certainly worth watching if you didn't watch the 5th Quarter live on Friday night. Full story...

Trevon Brown won't be suiting up this weekend for the East Carolina Pirates. The freshman wide receiver isn't ready to go after hurting his left knee last week. Trevon Brown is a New Hanover grad. Former Hoggard Viking Wil Baumann continues to lead the ACC in punting. Michael Jordan Full story...

The first round of the soccer playoffs concluded on Wednesday night all around the state. The majority of our local squads won. Winners advance to the second round of the state playoffs later this week. Plus, we checked in with former UNCW Seahawk basketball standout Adam Smith on Wednesday. Smith now plays basketball at Virginia Tech. Full story...
