You won't have to leave the comfort of your home in order to watch the UNCW women's basketball team this weekend. WWAY will showcase Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's team on Sunday when they take on Hofstra up in New York.

AP source: Panthers tab Chargers' Rivera as coach

A person familiar with the situation says the Carolina Panthers and Ron Rivera have reached an agreement in principle that will make the San Diego defensive coordinator the second Latino head coach in NFL history.

Israel Chavez is heading to Independence, MO, next month. He has his sights set on a national title after winning a regional title in Wilmington Saturday night.

Hammerheads expect release of 2011 schedule this week

David Irving told WWAY Saturday he expects to know his team's schedule by the end of the week. We caught up with the Hammerheads head coach during the team's open tryout at Legion Stadium. The Hammerheads tentative home opener will be Saturday, April 16 at Legion Stadium.

UNCW suffers first CAA home loss of the season with 18 point setback versus VCU

VCU didn't lead the entire game, but it sure did seem that way. The wonderful week came to a halting crash on Saturday for UNCW after two consecutive CAA wins. UNCW's conference record drops to 2-2 with the loss.

UNCW female boxer packs a punch at Silver Gloves boxing tournament in Wilmington

videoThe City of Wilmington is starting to build a decent reputation when it comes to boxing. In fact boxers from nine different states are in the Port City this week to compete in the annual Southeast Silver Gloves Boxing Championship at the armory on Carolina Beach Road.

CFCC to give away free basketball tickets in honor of MLK Day

Cape Fear Community College will give away free tickets to the Saturday, Jan. 15 basketball game in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day. The game starts at 5:00 p.m. and the Sea Devils will take on Mount Zion Academy in the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington.
