UNCW Prepares For NCAA Baseball Tournament

Story body

Other than the disappointing outcome at last week's CAA tournament in Wilmington, it's been a season to remember for UNCW. The seahawks won 42 games overall. In fact, back in March they won a school record 21 games in a row. The dream season continues on Friday when the Seahawks face Southern Conference champion Elon in Cary. Mark Scalf: "We're going to have to play clean baseball for 4 days and you better be hungry because they're going to be hungry. Everybody's trying to get to next week in order to be one of the top 16 teams in the country and continue to play a 3 game series on the way to Omaha." First things first, along with Elon, the Seahawks are in the same double elimination regional as Mt.St. Mary's and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jason Appel: "I think if we go out there and play the way we've been playing, especially the way we played during that 21 game winning streak then we can beat anybody in the country on any given day." Bradley Holt: " This is what we worked for, this is where we want to be, we're starting fresh and we're here and we have a big weekend to look forward to" John Rendleman: "UNC is the host school for the regional baseball action this weekend, but the games will be played in Cary because Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill is being renovated." and Friday's first pitch between UNCW and Elon will be at 2 oclock in Cary.... Mark Scalf: "we're not just trying to win one game, we're going to try to win the whole thing"....
