Hoggard and New Hanover will meet on Wednesday night at UNCW's Trask Coliseum. The championship of the 18th Annual Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament is at stake. This will be the first time New Hanover and Hoggard have faced each other in the Brogden championship game since 1994. New Hanover won that year by a single point. Full story...

On Friday night on WWAY we featured a preview of the 18th Annual Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament that will tip off on Monday at UNCW's Trask Coliseum. Eight high school basketball teams will be shooting for the title. One of the teams already has a tournament title this month. Hoggard won the Shootout by the Sea in Myrtle Beach on Friday. We also showcased the Clemson Tigers on Friday's 11pm sports. They're coached by Brad Brownell(former UNCW head basketball coach). Full story...

The Leon Brogden Holiday Tournament features eight high school basketball teams, four from Wilmington and four from out of town. It's a fun hoops event that fits right in the middle of the holiday season. In fact it starts the day after Christmas on the campus of UNCW. Full story...

On Thursday night on WWAY we featured the championship game of the girls holiday high school basketball tournament at Laney High School. Undefeated Laney hosted Ashley, but the Bucs didn't capture the title. It went to the Screaming Eagles instead. We also featured highlights from the Wallace-Rose Hill boys basketball championship game. That title game showcased Topsail and East Carteret. Click play video to highlights from these games. On Wednesday night the UNC Wilmington men's basketball team had the lead in the second half against Wake Forest, but the Demon Deacons came up big down the stretch despite 32 points from UNCW freshman Adam Smith. The UNCW Seahawks returned home Monday night. They trailed most of the game and only held one lead in the second half, but that was when the final buzzer sounded. A last second tip-in lifted the Hawks to their third win in their last four outings. Full story...
