Holocaust Remembrance Day is fast approaching and Sunday two religions joined forces to remember. St. Mary Catholic Church hosted the event Heroes Despite the Holocaust in conjunction with Temple of Israel and B'nai Israel Synagogue. Four local holocaust survivors shared their stories to make sure it's never forgotten. One of the speakers was Bronia Merlin. “Starvation, beating, you never know the next day, if I'm going to live. I begged God. I said I want to die in sleep,” she said. It has been nearly 65 years since Merlin was freed from the Auschwitz concentration camp and she said she still has nightmares about her experiences to this day.
