Carolina coach John Fox is noncommittal as to who will be the starting quarterback for the Panthers' next game. The Panthers are off this weekend but take on Indianapolis a week from Sunday. Fox says it's an open competition between David Carr and Vinny Testaverde. Carr was acquired in the off-season after five years as a starter in Houston. The 43-year-old Testaverde was signed last week and ended up leading the panthers to a 25 to 10 win over Arizona. Carr was unable to play that game due to a bad back.
