State funds are now available for victims of this area's flooding three weeks ago.
Small businesses, homeowners, and renters may be eligible for low interest loans to pay for flood damage caused by a severe storm on July 6th. Loan officers from the Small Business Administration are at UNCW until Friday to help people see if they qualify.
“It gives individuals who've suffered damages the opportunity to replace the things that have been damaged whether its been destroyed or things that need repair,” said Jimmy Murray of the US Small Business Administration. “This is a good way of doing it and you know this is a low interest loan so the terms are affordable based on your ability to pay it back.”
Loan officers will be set up at UNCW's Leutze Hall in Room 107 until the end of the week. If you can't make it, the filing deadline is September 22nd.
Disaster loans apply to victims in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties.
