State Rep. Wright to appear in court on felony charges

RALEIGH (AP) -- State Representative Thomas Wright has been given two boxes of evidence that prosecutors collected in their criminal case against him. Wake County District Attorney Colin Willoughby released the evidence during a court hearing Monday. Wright has been charged with five felony counts for fraudulently obtaining $160,000 in bank loans and pocketing $185,000 meant for his campaign. He declined comment after the hearing Monday. Another hearing is scheduled Friday. Meanwhile, a panel of six House members will meet later this week to decide whether there's enough evidence to show that Wright may have participated in unethical or illegal conduct. The committee could recommend to the entire chamber that Wright be censured or removed from office. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

Doesn't seem to think

But chuckles doesn't seem to think it is a big deal since he hasn't murdered anybody. I guess it is business as usual for him. Lock him away for good and make him pay back my tax dollars!

Wright has done wrong

Thomas Wright needs to be charged with the attempted murder of all the citizens of Navassa. He sold them down the river for money to a company that sought to pollute the land and poison the people (Hugo Neu). That is just in addition to the charges that he will soon have to answer for in taking money from the people that he represented and misusing it and fraud.

Wright / Wrong

Maybe Wright and Ron Hewett can share a cell together !

Paycheck for Wright?

What I want to know, is Rep. Wright drawing a paycheck while he is at home hiding from the press? He's not in Raleigh where he is supposed to be? Is that the reason he won't resign, so he can still get paid for not doing his job? It's kinda like John Edwards when he was elected to the U.S. Senate. He was paid to be a senator, but was never there. He only wanted the title of Senator.

Thomas Wright

Yep! He gets paid like any state senator does, until he's removed from office. Get's all other privelages and benefits also!

I don't see why it's taken so long for this to be prosecuted...It has been evident of His crimes commited for months...Rep. Wright has acted so "ARROGANT"...Like he could do as he pleases... His actions are even worse because he has violated public trust and stolen funds donated for his re-election...He has also used his position to obtain loans illegally He should be convicted of all charges against him and get at least 5-10 years active prison time in a State Maximum security prison with hardened criminals..."OUCH"!!!...
