Step up for Soldiers hosts fishing event

Memorial Day may be over, but military families were thanked for their service with a free fishing event at Kure Beach on Saturday. The non-profit organization, Step up for Soldiers, held its annual kids fishing day at the Kure Beach Pier. All families of active duty, deployed and retired soldiers were invited to attend the free event. Awards were given out to the top fishermen and women. Step up for Soldiers is a Wilmington-based non-profit dedicated to helping wounded soldiers.
