You may have heard the urgent call for blood from the Red Cross this week. So did WWAY’s Steve Rondinaro and look where it landed him. The American Red Cross hopes you will give the gift of life. The Red Cross says the blood supply has dropped critically low. You are especially needed if you have type O-negative, B-negative or A-negative blood. To donate you must be least 17 years old, or 16 with your parent's permission, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Call 254-GIVE to schedule an appointment.

The sign at the front door telling me that I'm not welcome because I legally carry a concealed weapon. Considering where the Red Cross is located, they should be ecstatic that I'm carrying a weapon.
I feel the same way...until my best friend who happens to be Gay can give blood...I won't either. Rediculous that answering that simple question yes and being honest disqualifies someone from giving blood.
I will not give blood anymore. After going into the hospital and having to have blood and getting charged an arm an a leg for something I give for FREE...I'll pass.
You're denying someone else something that may save their life, just because it cost you money when you got it? Where is the logic in that? Did that blood save your life? What would have happened to you if you hadn't gotten the blood? What if the person who donated it to you had thought that way? I'm sure glad there aren't more people like you around.
Steve, Although it is wonderful that you gave blood and want to do it every year on your birthday, you should know that you are eligible to give every 8 weeks. Hopefully, you'll head back to the Red Cross in another 56 days.
