Strawberry Shortcake

2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in cold butter with pastry knife. Add milk and beaten egg. Stir just until a ball of dough forms. Turn out and divide in half, forming two disks equal in size to the cake pan. Put in first disk. Spread with melted butter. Pat other disk in place. Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes. Cover with your choice of sweetened fruit and fresh whip cream.
