Study: Housework depends on women's salary

A new study concludes how much house work women do depends a lot on how much money they make. If you hate cleaning the house a new study suggests your best bet for reducing your house workload might be getting a high-paying job outside the home. The report says the more money married women earn the less time they're likely to spend on housework. According to a University of Massachusetts, Amherst study, for every $7,500 they earn outside the home married women do one less hour of housework per week. And the report states women's housework is not affected by their husband's earnings -- just their own. But the case is different for single women. They typically spend less time on domestic labor than married women, and the relationship between income and housework is not as apparent. Some possible explanations for the trend? The financial flexibility to hire a housekeeper, time demands required for high paying jobs, and even different standards of tidiness. The study doesn't factor in children and the effect they have on housework.
