RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Investigators say the suspect in the killing of a North Carolina police chief's daughter has been caught in New York.
Michael Neal Harvey was arrested Monday morning in Niagara Falls, NY, in the killing of Valerie Hamilton. Hamilton's body was found over the weekend in a self-storage unit in North Carolina.
Her father, Concord Police Chief Merl Hamilton, had issued an emotional plea hours earlier for help finding the
suspect.
Harvey, a former Niagara Falls resident, was convicted of rape in that state. His North Carolina criminal record includes failing to register as a sex offender and felony breaking-and-entering.

This kinda hits close to
This kinda hits close to home, even down here. Concord, NC is my home town. I was born in Concord and finished high school there and served with the Concord Police Dept. in the late 60s and early 70s. My deepest sympathy to Chief Hamilton and his family.
3rd strike
If convicted, I say 3rd strike and we can put this mutt down.
