A group from the Sierra Club and non-profit renewable energy company Oceana made a presentation to the New Hanover County Commission Monday night to recommend offshore wind energy.

Missing teen's mom joins search

The mother of a Wilmington teen missing for two weeks has come to town looking for help finding him. Al'Quon Flowers, 18, went missing July 18, and family and friends say they still have no idea where he is or if he is even alive.

Catlin makes NC House run official

New Hanover County Commissioner Rick Catlin officially announced today he will run for the NC House of Representatives next year. WWAY reported last month Catlin plans to run for the newly-formed District 20 seat.

Wilmington Sharks conclude home regular season schedule tonight

Sunday night at the the Shark Tank will be "Fan Appreciation Night"... It's also the final home regular season game of the 2011 Coastal Plain League season. Sunday's game will start at 7pm at Buck Hardee Field. Hopefully the Sharks will get to host a playoff game on Thursday.

Hammerheads inch closer to first place

The Wilmington Hammerheads had quite the road trip this week. Two games = two victories. The Hammerheads will return home to Legion Stadium for a game against Los Angeles on Friday.

UPDATE: Police arrest suspect in shooting near UNCW, release victim's name

video Wilmington Police have released the name of the victim of Friday afternoon's shooting. David Carroll, 42, is at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Carroll is in fair condition. Police have officially charged Reginald Gagnier with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
