A long-awaited attraction in Kure Beach is finally open. The town celebrated the grand opening of its new Ocean Front Park this afternoon.
Plans for the park have been in the making since 2007.

The road is open and the swings are up at Kure Beach's new oceanfront park, which is next to the pier along Atlantic Avenue. The park will offer a pavilion, restrooms and a children's play area. It's set to be completed by next winter.

The town of Kure Beach apologized on its website today that construction of Ocean Front Park is not completed.

It looks like federal money for beach renourishment hasn't dried up yet.
Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-7th District) announced today millions of dollars for renourishment at Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as for dredging the Wilmington Harbor, which will help Bald Head Island.
