NC State's emergency alert system is warning students of two unconfirmed reports of subjects carrying guns on campus. Some students speculated the sightings could be related to the weeklong "Zombies vs. Humans" fundraiser on campus where students battle other students dressed as zombies with Nerf guns and other weapons in a charity fundraiser.

Since as early as January 2011, and perhaps before then, Gov. Bev Perdue’s press office has received access to confidential employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics hours if not days before its scheduled release, quite likely in violation of federal law. The governor’s staff used its early access to massage the monthly employment press release that reported jobs data to the public.

Ouch! A State Highway Patrol training officer horsing around at the magistrates office in the Wake County Jail last month accidentally stunned a trainee in the buttock with a Taser.
It happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 27, when the training officer pulled the trigger of his Taser without a cartridge loaded. That makes a loud popping noise, but doesn’t fire the weapon.
