North Carolina government leaders are encouraging parents to talk sooner to their children - particularly middle-school students - about the dangers of underage drinking. Parents are getting new resources to assist them.

Changes in more than 20 NC laws begin Wednesday

New North Carolina laws involving coal ash, specialty license plates and the regulation of alcoholic beverages are being implemented starting in October. All or portions of more than 20 pieces of legislation approved by the General Assembly take effect beginning Wednesday.
