Former BSL police chief pleads guilty

The former police chief of Boiling Spring Lakes has pleaded guilty to a crime involving his son. District Attorney Jon David says Emmett Ballree entered the plea today to willfully failing to discharge his duties as a police officer.

Suspect admits human trafficking in prostitution case involving cop, firefighter

video A man connected to a prostitution case involving a former police officer and a former firefighter has pleaded guilty to human trafficking of a minor. Shawn Christopher Conley entered the plea today in Brunswick County Superior Court, the District Attorney's Office says.

Bryon Vassey, who's accused of fatally shooting Keith Vidal, 18, less than two minutes after arriving at the teen's home Jan. 5.
