The Department of Education's Civil Rights Office is looking into a claim that seclusion rooms are only being used on students with disabilities.

D.C. Virgo Middle School will once again open its doors, but not in a way administrators planned. Recently, the state denied the school's application for charter status, so the school will be a public school, with a twist.

The New Hanover County Science Fair was held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 on the campus of Murray Middle School. Nearly two hundred students in grades 3-12 participated.

More New Hanover County students are staying in school instead of dropping out. The school district says the 23.4 percent decrease in the overall dropout rate is a big step in the right direction.
